Early Life and Education

Dr. Gibson grew up in Orangeburg County, South Carolina with her parents Alvin and Bretta Staley, retired educators and administrators.

She earned her high school diploma from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in 1999.

She earned a B.A. in Art Education from Claflin University in 2003.

She earned a Master's degree in Education: Divergent Learning with an Arts Emphasis from Columbia College in 2005.

She earned a Doctorate of Education in Online Learning K-12 and Adults from Northcentral University in 2016. ​​

Dr. Kizzi Gibson is an educator, public servant, advocate for life long learning and community leader who currently resides in Lexington, SC.

at numerous public schools throughout the state of South Carolina for over 18 years. She was elected and has served as an executive board member operating as an Education Sector Representative on the Board of Directors for the largest virtual public charter school in the state of South Carolina. She served as President of the Board of Directors for the newly chartered public virtual school in the low country of South Carolina. In addition, she served as Technology Education Director & Instructional Designer for a Professional Continual Education company.

Dr. Gibson was elected and has served two terms as President of the West Metro Republican Women in Lexington County. She was elected at the state level and has served as the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women 2nd Congressional District Director. She also serves as Chaplain for South Carolina Federation of Republican Women. She was elected and has served as a Lexington county GOP Precinct President for the Redbank community in Lexington South Carolina for two consecutive terms. Dr. Gibson has served as a Lexington County Delegate to the South Carolina GOP convention. She is a member of Lexington Church of God where she is an active member and serves on the praise and worship team. Dr. Gibson is married to Mr. Jerry L. Gibson and they have two children, David, and Alysia Gibson. Her list of community and state-level involvement and service is extensive, and she is honored to have been allowed to positively impact her community and state.
